About WRO 2026 Open Championship Europe
The World Robot Olympiad is a global robotics competition that inspires young people to develop creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and engineering skills through hands-on challenges. Each season, teams design, build, and program robots to address tasks connected to a yearly theme. In 2026, Zagreb will become a meeting point for talented teams from across Europe and beyond, united by innovation, learning, and the excitement of robotics.
The WRO 2026 Open Championship Europe will take place from
13–16 October 2026 at Zagreb Fair (Zagrebački Velesajam), Zagreb, Croatia.
Zagreb Fair is one of the largest exhibition venues in Southeast Europe and offers excellent infrastructure for hosting international robotics competitions.
The WRO 2026 Theme – Robots Meet Culture
The theme of the WRO® 2026 Open Championship Europe in Zagreb invites teams to explore the connection between robotics, creativity, and cultural heritage. Across the world, culture helps people share ideas, preserve traditions, and imagine the future. Robotics can support this by making art, history, and heritage more interactive, accessible, and engaging. In Zagreb, teams will be encouraged to think about how technology can protect cultural treasures, inspire new forms of expression, and connect people through innovation.
Robots Meet Culture is a theme about creativity, heritage, and the future shaped by young minds.
The competition consists of multiple categories designed for different age groups and experience levels.
Participants can take part in several competition categories, including:
- RoboMission
- RoboSports
- Future Innovators
- Future Engineers
- (Side activities – will be announced)
Participants & Registration
The event is open to teams and participants from different WRO countries. Qualification and registration is done by the National Organizer in each participating country.

Registration fees include:
- Accommodation (bed & breakfast) – 4 days, 3 nights at hotels Novi Zagreb, Westin, International and Zonar

Official Accommodation
Participants, coaches, judges, National Organizers, and accompanying guests will be accommodated in selected official hotels in Zagreb.
The accommodation options include Hotel International, Hotel Novi Zagreb, The Westin Zagreb, and Hotel Zonar Zagreb. All hotels are located within convenient distance of the competition venue and provide comfortable facilities for teams and guests during the event.
